    How to quickly fix peelingclearcoat?

How can I relatively quickly make this peeling clearcoat look better?

Not looking to respray atm, but that may come in the near future, but for now, can i just wetsand the whole car with 800 then 1000 then 2000 grit and then buff? would that help?

Here is what it looks like:

    Thanks guys!

nope, that color is a two stage paint and once the clear is gone there isnt anything you can do. On single stage paints like red, black, etc a cut/buff/polish will bring it back to life.

      Billions of blistering blue barnacles!

So if i was to sand/buff the undercoat it would just appear like a matte finish?

FYI this car has been repainted, i am not sure where, but whoever did it obviously didn't do so well with the clear. Is it worth it to sand off all the clear and have Maaco or someone re-spray the car if i prep and remove parts correctly?

remove the clear and re-spray it yourself....

see that is also an option. I would just have to set up a paint booth in my friend's garage, buy the painting materials, and do the work.

I just need to figure out with the materials i need to buy and the quality of my work (novice painter here), whether Maaco would be more worth it.

            Dont have macco do it.

Wet sand the clear off with 1000 grit, a dual action sander would make it quick. It will cut pretty quickly, so be careful around the edges and on the basecoat. Those areas are easier if done by hand.

You really dont have to set up a paint booth, you could just reclear it in a well ventilated, dust free location. All you need is a respirator, a paint gun, an air compressor, and paint+materials.

            BTW, nice car!

just get the hood resprayed, remove it and take it to a shop, or do it yourself if you are up for it.

I'd lean more towards seeing what a reputable shop would charge you for a hood re-spray will cost you. And the roof can be blended around the rear pillars if the rest of the paint is in decent shape.

Otherwise, do it yourself man. Nothing but learning and gaining new skills and experiences.
