    Rust!

I stripped this car to the shell to fix up any rust or bodywork issues that I might find, and, well, I found some!

What should I do? It's obviously completely stuffed the battery tray section, and has started to rust the driver's side floor section and looks like it's eating away at the outside as well. I have no experience in dealing with bodywork, rust, or welding. I'm assuming the battery tray is going to have to be completely removed, but what about the other sections? Should I buy a new battery tray section from the dealer?

This is a picture of the back left of the car, previous owner's work. It's hideous on the inside, and the outside looks OK but isn't straight, especially where the bumpers are mounted and over the left wheel well. Should I just cut out and replace these sections as well?

Finding a reliable bodyshop in this country is hard, and you mostly find out whether they're any good after they've had a go at your car. Is this something I should/can do myself, or should I hand it over to the experts?

If you got an air compressor, sand blast it.

You really can't do anything with it until you hit it with some sort of abrasive. Sandblast, wire brush, sandpaper etc. Then you will actually see how bad the damage is. From the looks of it though, I would hit the floor pan with some Por15 to totally arrest the corrosion. I would Remove and replace the battery box, shouldn't be too difficult. Best of luck!
