    M-tech 1 Tow Hook Extender

There seems to be very little information about the Tow Hook Extender that goes along with the M-tech 1 front spoiler. So now that I've figured it all out, I want to share how it works because I know there are M-tech 1 owners out there wanting to know about it.

With every M-tech kit came tow hook extenders for the rear and front. They are separate part numbers. Many times you will see them painted body color, or flat black. Both look good, but from factory they were gold irridite. Here's how you instal it if you have an m-tech kit.

Here's what you start with, your standard tow hook with M-tech 1 front spoiler.

You need to take the bumper/spoiler off

Then you can get at the tow hook in its entirety

You will see the bottom half of the extender cuffs into place under the tow hook

Put in your bolt, washers, and nut and tighten it up tightly

Reinstall the bumper/spoiler and you'll have this

There you go! All finished and ready to look-good/tow. :)

Well, to be honest, it looks like very little info is needed, it just bolts into a hole, rather simple concept. Thanks for the pictures, and why didn't you buff the OE tow hook before bolting the extender over it?

very nice. I didn't even know about the tow hook extender...does it come on late e30s also? Don't they have the tow hook in the front?

That last picture is a great shot of an e30 front...minus the spanner

Haha good spot, I didn't even realize it was in the reflection.

The tow hook extender is only for the M-tech 1 kit (Pre-Facelift e30's).

The Facelift e30's just have on tow hook in front and it's not actually visible. It screws into the right of the bumper. The only pic I have is of the tow hook in my Dad's e34 toolkit.

I don't have and couldn't find any pics of it screwed into a facelift e30 but you get where it goes.

Andrew - what's going on with the passenger front side of your front valance, right below the front indicator light? Looks wierd, like if it's a little warped or not fitted all the way with the bumper?

Crap. While I had the bumper/spoiler off I took off the trim to replace some hardware and when I put it back on I must have tweaked it a little bit so that piece didn't fit all the way. Damn, now i've got to take it off :weak:
Thanks for the spot though, I didn't even realize until you pointed it out.
