    Bumper untuck

    Hey Guys,

New to the forum, have a black 87 325is. The previous owner(s) did a bumper tuck and put sideskirts, and rear valence on it and some ricer mods, cold air, headers, too loud exhaust, mags and lowered without fixing the camber L.

This winter, I am completely redoing the body, rust repair, shaving antenna, windshield washer nosels etc. No body kits because I like how the e30’s look, and to be honest the side skirts and valence look pretty good already.

I'll be posting my progress; with pictures and hopefully can get some advice from you guys. I am considering doing a roller paint job as well. I am a bit nervous, but if it looks pretty good (not a show car) and I can fix anything by myself whenever I want it would be very cool.

As many of you know, if you tuck the bumper you can't get it off, there is NO space to get at the bolts. It's hard to take apart the front end without the bumper off. The guy I got it off by correspondence said it was tucked and WELDED in place.

Anyways if you have the same problem, take a rubber mallet and wack the shit out of it on both sides (on the rubber strip), and give a tug, came right out! Might have been just tacked in place. Now to see if I can do the rear the same way, any hints?? I’ve removed the shock bolts on the frame rails already, (the front did not appear to have them??) should I put them back in a wail on it?

BTW: I know this isn’t really big news, but I am sure that someone else will have this problem.

I want to fix the rear bumper (plastics) gap to the rear quarter, it’s not huge but bigger then I would like, why not do it while I’m at it any hints?

Mine slide in and out with minimal effort. I prefer max tuckage.

back when i was messing with mine and fighting those bolts with it tucked.. i thought of something better.

put it on full size, then push it in where i want it. to get it off, i find a way to pull it back out. then take out the bolts easily. most of the time.

I drilled holes and shot lag bolts through the shocks.

In? Stays put. Out? 30 seconds.

do not do a roller paint job, way to much effort. Buy a cheap spray gun, borrow a compressor, and use the same rustoleum paint just thin it a little.
