do i necessarily have to sand my taillights or can i just apply the testors? thanks Godbless.

Do a light sand with something high like 800 or 1000, just enough to give the paint something to stick to. The taillights are smooth enough to begin with that the paint might have a hard time sticking to it otherwise. -
I used 400 and took off all the casting icons in the amber part. 2 coats testors and 2 coats clear. they still need a quick wet sand and buff but there is no clarity problem whatsoever. 2 coats of the red was the trick for color match. When I go back to my shop I'll take a few pics. Detailed masking is key, mask EVERYTHING.

hey r3v i have another question. i ran into some brittle plastic hinges in taillights so i dont want to risk breaking the other side. i can still paint the taillights while mounted on the car yes? just alot of car masking lol.1989 325i Delphin-Metallic
