    red turn signal question

    do i necessarily have to sand my taillights or can i just apply the testors? thanks Godbless.

    Do a light sand with something high like 800 or 1000, just enough to give the paint something to stick to. The taillights are smooth enough to begin with that the paint might have a hard time sticking to it otherwise.

      I just painted mine straight without sanding. Its been a year so far and no fading or peeling.

        i cleaned mine well. and mine are all red, and smoked. no problems, its been like 5 months.

          I used 400 and took off all the casting icons in the amber part. 2 coats testors and 2 coats clear. they still need a quick wet sand and buff but there is no clarity problem whatsoever. 2 coats of the red was the trick for color match. When I go back to my shop I'll take a few pics. Detailed masking is key, mask EVERYTHING.

            :( 20 year old connectors stopped me from painting my tails today..super glue is my best friend. another attempt later.

              hey r3v i have another question. i ran into some brittle plastic hinges in taillights so i dont want to risk breaking the other side. i can still paint the taillights while mounted on the car yes? just alot of car masking lol.

                i shadowlined my car with the trim on it. just be careful when you tape and make sure not to miss anything. :up:

                  im planning on shadowlining on the car too xD lots of masking to do haha.
