    How much to paint?

I have an '87 325 and it needs new paint. Basically all around. How much have you guys paid to get your e30's repainted? I am just looking to get maybe 2 coats of cinnaburot or however you spell it. No gonna strip the whole car and respray, not worth it to me. If I mask off the whole car and take off trim myself, any guesses on how much money that would save me? I figure a full respray would cost aruond $2500, that about right?

that seems about right. i got my car resprayed without taking it apart... just masking for 1500. base coat and clear coat. but i got a big time discount cus my dad sends a lot of business the way of the body shop i got it done at. so i would say you should def. be able to get a good respray for 2500 or less.

I'm not doing Maaco ;) Maaco sucks balls. I'll budget $2500 for a repaint. I will prolly be getting a loan for $4k. And yes...its an 'e' and I wanna get it all fixed cus I like it.

That's is the biggest waste of money I have ever heard of. Why would you drop $2500 to repaint an Eta when you could drop that same amount of money and have an i/is? I don't care what you say, you can't like your Eta so much would would spend almost double its value to put a fresh paint job on it. Go get a one day job for $300, sell the car, and use your $4000 loan to buy a i/is. Please think this through.

I am going to have to second that one. Do yourself a favor and use that money to get an i/is. Even if your e has perfect paint, it is still a slow e.

Ease up killer. Spending any money on these cars is a waste.

2500 is a good price for a pretty decent job, is this for a full strip job?

Yea man.... good thing Ryan Stewart didnt spend all that money on an eta huh?!!!!

                Amen Charlie.
All E30's are a waste of money. Its just a competition to see who can suck enough to waste the most.

How long did he drive it with a 2.7l econo motor???

It was still an "eta" when he put on the alpina wheels, suspension, and body add-ons.

I am aware and I guess you've got me on this one. But pelase don't talk to me like this is my first day in the E30 crowd.

Well... First place said that if I took all the trim off, it would prolly be around $2500-$2800. 2 base coats, 2 clear coats. 2nd place wanted to strip the whole car and do like 5 coats of clear. And he said $7500... or $5000 if I took all the trim off and stripped all the paint off myself. IMO... I should sell the eta and get a little newer 325is for around $3500 or $4000. Anybody got one for sale or know of a nice one around that price? Lookin for a dark grey one or a black one prolly. My bro found a 1987 535is over near the SF Bay for $3800 that looks to be a good buy. It has a red grill... but that can be changed. http://www.craigslist.org/sby/car/55569786.html

If somebody could go check that car out for me...that would be totally awesome. I might have my bro do it but I dunno how much extra time he has right now. So if youre in the area and have some time, if you could go look at the car in person and take it for a test drive, that would be awesome and greatly appreciated.
