    Tips on spray painting

Hey everyone my roof on my 318is needs to be repainted and I don't have money to get it professionally done. I have a few free days this week and would like to start painting/prep work asap. If anyone has any tips on how to prep or paint it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys

    My shopping list so far.
    Dupi color primer
    Dupi color paint
    Dupi color clear coat
    220-500 grit sand paper.
    Sanding block
    Tape
    Paper to cover the car
    (Anything Else?)

prep very thouroughly. primer and such, and work in sections. dont try to rattlecan the whole car at once, it will look awful. and you also want some 800-1200 for the final prep before the spray.

220 is really rough, start at 300, then a 450 then anything in the fives, and then from 800-1200, wet sanding everystep of the way.

what color is the car now? that is the method i use whe i prep a car with 2 stage paint.

Okay so I sanded it all down yesterday and my sun damaged spots turned out to be way worse then I expected. But I started with 220 and then today I primerd it and sanded it down with 400 and then tomorrow I'm going to shoot it with silver paint. (color of car) Then I'm going to sand it with 1000 then spray it again with silver. Lastly I'm going to clear it probably twice and then sand and buff with 2000. That all sound good?

that's a really nice car guy.

Do as much wet sanding as you can and don't be afraid to go over the prep area with a cloth and spirit before each layer and to help insure theres no moisture.

Ha Ha I think I'll be okay about the whole moisture thing I live in Arizona. But thanks for the input I'm about to head out right now and start painting. I was thinking two coats of paint and two coats of clear. I can't wait till she is done.

Stick the paint cans in a bucket of hot water for a while (remove the tips) and shake the absolute shit out of them.
