    Do the work myself or...

Ive got a new lower valence to replace mine that's bent to shit, and a new rear bumper cover to replace my cracked and broken one.

Both are black, and my car is calypso. My question is, should I sand these down, primer them, and paint them myself using paint from paintscratch.com or towerpaint.com, or should I take them to a local paint place?

I'm trying to weigh the cost of doing myself or taking it somewhere.

I'd like to try my hand at doing it myself. But Im not sure how well aerosol paint cans will look. Not looking for a show quality job, but I don't want it to look like total shit either.

What's a shop normally charge for a respray on 2 items like this if they are already off the car and prepped?

do you have any knowledge in painting?
i say do it yourself you can get someone to paint it...
but i would say it would run around 50-80 bucks and thats you providing paint...
just do it yourself look at it as a learning experience
      :)

what I did cuz i have the same problem I painted my bumper and valence myself with spray cans from my local hardware store. I don't think it came out that bad but i had some minor experience. I would say paint the bad ones and see how it turns out. If it comes out bad then go professional. Just try to paint it by yourself with any color paint just to see how it turns out.

Don't the valences have some sort of stone guard additive in the paint? My black valence and rockers need paint and I got a price from the local body shop, $425.

optional, you dont have to get the stone gaurd if you dont want it. i had my front is valence and rear RD apron painted (6 years ago... damn) for a total of 400, with the lower 1-2" textured for chip protection
