    Sunroof Issue

:curse: Title describe it perfect. My sunroof has some issues.... I believe its broken. The arm that moves the roof on the driver side doesn't seem to fully extend I guess you could say. At full tilt the driver side arm is at about a 65°angle appose to the passengers side which is at about an 80°angle? I've tried to adjust it with the bolts to make up for the difference but couldn't get enough out of it.... is the track a simple replacement?

Yes you can adjust the cables, but it entails removing the motor/drive mechanism. Mine is power, and I don't remember what a manual drive mechanism looks like exactly, but it should be pretty easy to remove.

It's also dependent on how far you've disassembled the sunroof - everything (including the headliner) is all tied together which makes for a total bitch of a time fixing these things.

Once you remove the gear that drives the cables, you can slide them independently to align them properly. Use allen wrenches to lock each side in place (you should see a position where the holes in the sliding arms align with a hole in the track support), then re-install the drive mechanism. You may want to double check that you're reinstalling the arm in the correct position with regard to where the sunroof is in its travel.

Took me a couple tries to get it right. I would lube up the cables while you have access. I also lubed up the tracks when I reinstalled my sunroof. Be careful if you detach the wind deflector support arms, the plastic pieces are probably very brittle. You can however purchase them from the dealer and they aren't that expensive.

        Good luck.

just adjusted the cables, and everything lines up perfect now but I feel my sunroof is warped/bent... is that common?

I'd be surprised if it were. What are the symptoms?

you could try unbolting it and setting it on a flat surface i guess - but I have never seen one bent/warped.

I think it may be bent... I did the adjustments and got it to sit even. It still sags in the middle and won't open entirely without getting hung up on something. I'm going to head to the bone yard and get the entire system I'll update when all is said and done.
