    Need help choosing paint?

I have my e30 all sanded down to metal and ready for paint.Everything is off the car(trim,windows,moldings,windshield...etc) I was thinking of just sending it to Maaco and have them paint it but after reading some peoples recommendations online I figured I should probably buy my own paint and have them paint it.

So my question is What is a good paint to buy? Im a complete noobie to paint. Im working on a $600 budget. I would need primer, paint and clear coat. Any advice or suggestions?

You can buy just about all the necessary top-of-the-line Deltron PPG paint system components for $600-700, including metal etch wash, primer, sealer, base and clearcoat with all reducers and such. Orielly's sells PPG.

But you surely have some body work to do after priming to get a good finish. I've read that Macco will not use your 'own' paint because they are setup for their paints, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I would imagine the sprayers are pretty good though, since they spray a lot of cars. They just don't do crap for prep work. You could buy a compressor and quality knock-off spray gun for $500, hang some plastic in your garage and paint it yourself. That's what I am beginning to do now. Check out autobody101.com and read the forums. Lots of pros with lots of tips on the website.
