Nope, not any more. Now I have foolproof shit, because you have to get OUT of the car with it RUNNING...and the ebrake on.
She was in gear and ebrake off. How fucking stupid can you get?
Woot, progress! Thanks for the condolences bud, it'll be back on the road soon. I'm dropping off the mtech to get repainted today, getting the radiator checked for leaks and then it's either wait for a new valance or try and bend mine back in to shape. Obviously it doesn't need to be perfect because the mtech covers it all up, it just needs to be strait enough so that the mtech and fogs attach to it straight and proper without funny gaps.
Dude, good job on patching her back together. Most guys would have wallowed in the shame of it all...I like how you aren't trying to blame your R3V on extraneous bullshit. Way to man up, bubba!Comment

Ya I don't fuck around when it comes to this thing.
I know patience is a virtue, an excellent one at that. But when it comes to my e30 and making it driveable I'm as impatient as you can get. I want it done NOW. And I'll bust my balls to get what I want out of it. Being at work right now is driving me nuts, I want to be home fixing the damn thing.Comment

Got the radiator pressure tested and it checks out fine, so good news there. That saves me $170 not having to buy a new one. The Mtech is down at Active Autobody right now getting checked over, my guy is supposed to get back to me about repairing it today. I think it will be OK but he wasn't sure. If not he might be able to get me the part at cost from the dealer (which may be cheaper than paying $50/hr to fix it anyway)
On another note I decided to do a few things to mitigate this problem in the future. I finally bit the bullet and got collision coverage on my insurance (not nearly as bad as I thought, about $12/mo for $250 deductible). I also ordered the UUC BBK. WIth a car this heavy (around 3200lbs) and with this much power, I don't want to take a chance. Plus it will look uber fuhraze when they're powdercoated blue :pimp:Comment

I certainly hope so. I talked to their sales rep, he said the demand has been so huge they completely sold out of their first production run before even getting them from the mfgr. Lead time on mine, according to him, is about 2 weeks. I saved $50 and another week of leave time by asking them to skip their own powerdercoating process (which is normally free, you get either black or red) and have them shipped to me as bare aluminum. Then I'll have someone local do them up in blue.
Thanks bud. It sucks, there are times I just want to leave it in the garage and say to hell with it. But then it would never get fixed, and with summer here I gots to have my baby :)Comment

A buddy of mine spotted a good condition bronzit valance at a yard yesterday and picked it up for me. I also am getting some AWII mixed up in spray cans at the local Sherwin-Williams Auto, that will be ready for me tomorrow. So I'll have a nice straight AWII valance on the car by the end of the weekend. Then I can try and get the small dent out of the fender and make sure it's straight and sitting right. Hopefully the Mtech doesn't take too long to get back from the body shop.Comment
