    Paint Removal

I'm looking to start stripping the paint of my '86 for an eventual respray. What sort of tool(s) am I going to need for removing the paint? I'd like to remove some of the paint and rust to try and be premptive so the rust doesn't get out of control...

Got any good examples of tools that would be good for the job?

    Thanks

Automotive, or Marine paint remover, gel, or spray type.
Don't get it on your hands, burns fairly well.

    Also sandpaper, lots of that.

    Sold it.

I'm thinking more in the lines of mechanical tools :)

I know I'm going to need to do some sanding, but I'd like to as much not by hand as possible.

you will need a D\A sander (dual action) Ingersol or chicago pnematic are the best, and can be had on Ebay for about 35-50 bucks. I assume you have an air compresor?

If by lazy, you mean smart...then yes, I am that :)

I'm working on picking up a compressor shortly. I'm always a fan of Craftsman stuff, so I've been looking around Sears a lot. Can anyone recomend any of their compressors personally? Thanks!

I like my Craftsman 33gal horizontal tank. 6hp I believe. The air ratchet eats through your air fast though.

Indeed. I have a 6hp 30Gal horizontal Craftsman compressor. My D/A and Die Grinder both consume air far faster then the compressor can supply it.
