I apologize for the large pictures....I've normally been an observer of these forums, not a participant, so I'm still getting the hang of it. Hoping to change that now with my latest project and get more active on here.
Just picked up this beauty last weekend and as you can see from the pictures, it needs some body work. I'm going to attack the front bumper and fenders first, then move on and re-mount the rear bumper. Now, my question to all of you is, based on the busted driver-side bumper shock, how should I fix this?

As you can see from the photo, it got pushed in and pretty mangled up from a fender bender that the PO was involved in. Can this be fixed easily? My buddy who used to work in a body shop said that they used to use a chain wrapped around a tree to fix this. They'd throw a chain onto the shock, wrap it around a tree, and then back the car up until it came out.
Any other/similar suggestions? Thanks in advance. Oh, and I'll be starting a progress thread soon. I have big plans in mind!
Also, looks like the bumper itself is salvageable, but what about the lower valance? Can it be straightened out based on the condition it's in?
