Painting the black strip around the bottom

On my DB it has a strip on the bottom of each side. Looks to be protective. Anyways mine is faded and doesn't look very good so I'm going to repaint it. I'm wonder what everyone uses for the type of paint and do you guys go with black or with the actual body color?

    Thanks in advance

I painted my rear black strip to match my car color and it looks good. I used rattle can primer, rattle can paint and rattle can clear coat all duplicolor brand and so far no one noticed that its painted this way. Plus the bottom part gets dirty and dusty fast so it helps blend everything together.

3M underbody coating. Matches teh factory black and not much prepwork needed. Make sure you tape off the body very well. SHit is stickey and nasty,

I usually use the Duplicolor Bumper coating to repaint the rockers. Looks great!

That's what I wanted to hear about...there was a thread on here almost 2 years ago and it was recommended...but I wanted to hear some followup after time has passed to see how well it weathered.

I say do it the body color if you can. Makes the car look lower. The textured effect makes this really forgiving. I would leave the pinch weld along the sides black though since this is not really straight across the whole car. If you paint the whole side the body color without side skirts, the bottom edge looks kind of jagged (esp if its rusted or messed up from being a jacking point.) Paint right up to this to get a clean line.

I've used SEM Trim Black and it hasn't shown any wear since I've applied it almost a year ago.

mine was also pretty faded and chipped. i cant get hold of some of the products here in Aus, but we have 3M stuff so i used their underbody paint. It was pretty easy to do, put a few coats on over the course of an arvo, doesnt seem to have gone too badly.

the main thing i found was that even the stock lines of the texture paint and the black paint arent quite dead straight so its a little hard to pick a perfect line, you sort of have to find the highest point and spray to that. also dont stress if you go over or have overspray or whatever. I just had some turtle wax bug and tar remover on hand and just wiped any overspray off (i did it on a windy day and dont think i masked off perfectly)

really looks better with it done hey...
