    E36 m3 side molding on e30?

Has anybody tried to fit the side moldings in the middle of the door/ fender from an e36 m3 on an e30? I think it would flow alot better with the trim on the plastic bumpers. Pics??

Yes its been done a handfull of times. And yes it does flow better.
I've even had a set that i modified for one of my cars but ended up going another way.
I would like to eventually put them on some car.

interested as well, otherwise I'm going with taurus skirts - think of this way, finding out is for the dual benefit of the community!

Ive tried it and just never finished them. The door trim will be easy to modify and mount but the small fender peice and rear quarters will give you trouble since the e30's fender arch area begins right where the corner of the molding ends. So in that area it will make the e36m3 trim not flush. Maybe you can heat it and bend it enough to make it flush but idk how that will look.

so i just found a thread from e30tech about this. the 318ti clubsport has an m sport package with identical moldings to the e36 but a little smaller. it looks like it fits the e30 almost perfectly and modification should be very minimal. i think im gonna order it from turner and give it a shot.:pimp:

                  Link?

From what I remember from back in the day when the av3 kit was the new hotness you had to use 2 kits from an m3 because the front fender piece was too short. You needed 2 rear pieces and a door piece for one side.

A member over on a 318ti forum was kind enough to measure the lengths of each molding piece.

                    318ti:
                    Front fender : 8.75"
                    Door: 48.25"
                    Rear Fender: 21.5"
                    Total Run: 78 15/16"

                    My E30:
                    Front Fender: 9 11/16"
                    Door: 47 1/8"
                    Rear Fender: 19 11/16"
                    Total Run: 76 11/16"

It's soo damn close. The door is the only piece that really concerns me. These moldings also bevel at a different angle, so they just may fit.

I had them on my 2nd car, Big painn to get the standard e36 ones to fit. The door molding had to be shortened about 1.5". The front fender was easy, but I could never get the rear to fit flush. It wasn't too noticeable but it DOES work.
