    Door Damage, Repair or replace?

So about 8 months ago some worthless fuck backed into my car while it was parked outside my house and drove off. Left me to discover this when i came out to go to work.

Seeing as i have barebones insurance (R title) I will be footing the bill of the repair. Do you think it would more cost effective to take it to a bodyshop and have them work their magic, or just find another vert door and replace all the guts?

id take a replacement panel from the junk yard and have it paint matched. the problem is if you take it to a body shop, they'll likely charge you the additional labor to fabricate/mend it back to shape (or worse, bondo the hell out of it). if you can acquire a cheap door panel from the junk yard and simply prep the panel for paint yourself, you should save a lot

Thoughts on a door fitting in the back of a vert? If it is nice enough out it wont be a problem but its looking like its gonna be cold.

id say, panel fitment is the biggest pain ever. i've stripped bolts and screws way too many times attempting to make it perfect and finally threw it the towel. for my door and sunroof, i took it to a body shop and they did a computer/laser alignment but then again im a perfectionist.

If this is the door your talking about.

Hes only a hour from me. So if you want I can cut your trip down if you cover my gas.

You haven't bought that door yet? It's a buy it now so you better jump on it NOW.

It has actually been up for like 8 months. I found it when the door originally got hit but at the time he wanted 80 bucks(still a steal). The day trip is much more justifiable for only 50.
