Re: bumper trim removal
From what I hear, you will break some of the little clips off (if not most). I heard that the best way to remove it is with a tiny screwdriver.Originally posted by armeNi need to get my old trim out and get my euro trims on. How do I do it? To remove mine I had to take the entire bumper off. Then I used a very small flat head screwdriver as stated above. Only a few clips snapped. :)'89 "is" = M technic II build mode.

Theres no need to take the bumper off. Just a small screw driver to remove the trim. You will loose some clips no matter whatComment

To do it without damaging the molding or breaking the clips you need to remove the bumpers. The rear bumper especially, since the side trim is held on by a torx-20 screw which can only be removed with the bumper off.
If you plan to separate the bumper skin from the reinforcement then you'll need a couple small nail punches in order to knock out the plastic rivets which hold the bumper skin and reinforcement together.
I got a little more info here: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=280441&highlight=#280441
Regardless, if you don't care about damaging the molding then just rip it off whichever way you can think of. It will be quicker and easier but the trim will be garbage.Comment
