What to buy with a Porter Cable 7424xp - what polish and pads?

I was thinking of buying a Porter Cable 7424xp. My cars paint is in horrific shape. I'm hoping on putting off a repaint for another year or so, and at the same time, learn how to use a PC and have it for other jobs as well.

Where's the best place to buy pads and the polish? What I really want to be able to do is to polish, and wax all with the machine - a few years back I tore a ligament in my wrist - and I simply can't hand wax a car anymore.

I've been watching some great videos on youtube from a guy that calls himself "the junkman" - and it full of great real-world information. He recommends Adam's polish and pads. They seem a bit expensive at $200 for a set up of the pads.

What the heck should I buy? Should I pick up a "kid" of the PC and supplies? What's a good deal?

Start up will be pricey. But you don't need to spend too much.

PC for sure. Just find the best deal you can.

Pads and product will all be a personal thing. I use and prefer Poorboys World products.

Get on Autopia, look for coupon codes before ya go drop much coin on productsjust like sponsors on this forum take care of us, so do the detailing forums.

A detailed car makes all the difference. I feel like they drive better. I certainly feel better driving a detailed car.

The Porter Cable is a no-brainer. For pads, I like Lake Country or 3M. For refinishing, I like Poorboys SS3 and SS1. For polish and wax, it's Auto Glym, Zymol or P21S.

I use Rejex depending on the application.. for paint and wheels and glass. Anything no porous. Great shine. Extreme wear.

I buy a lot of my supplies from Autogeek or detailersdomain, they normally have good sales going on every weekend. The detailing forums have a ton of useful information available and definitely worth taking a look at if you get a chance.
