Jetta Rear on Metal Bumpers

Ok so I'm pretty sure I've heard of people trimming a rear bumper from a mk3 Jetta and making it fit on a early style (metal bumper) e30. I searched but couldn't find anything. Anyone have any input on this? Really all I'm wanting to do is have a rear valence/lip go underneath the metal bumper..

Never seen this done, but I have seen people trim the front lip to fit similar to an iS lip. But that is on a late model.
