    painting a valve cover

    do i need to use high heat paint when painting my valve cover or can i just use regular enamel spray paint? thanks

      Paint will just chip. Powder coat it

            make sure to mask the insides and bottom where the gasket fits. Seen lots of valve covers ruined that way.

              I don't think I used hi-temp paint. Seems to be fine. I'd recommend scrubbing the heck out of it. A lot of oil gets into the metal - and that will cause it to chip.

              I would recommend a quality paint for long lasting results.

                yes, need to make sure you get no paint on the breather tube, gasket surface, and oil filler cap.

                    Carb cleaner then rubbed with towel.

                      I never used hi temp for any of mine either. And they held up just fine.

                      This one here was painted with just krylon,

                          the horizontal lines and BMW letters do in all white.
