If yours is built the same as mine (90 325is non pop-out), you will have to remove the rubber gasket from the frame as it's all one piece. The chromed part is actually pop-riveted onto the rest of the frame. Theoretically, you COULD remove it though I wouldn't attempt it. You are better just removing the rubber gasket from the entire frame and painting it that way. I hope this helps. If not, somebody else step up.
