Hi guys, I've got this new project e28 that suffers from body damage. In particular the driver's side fender had a huge dent in it and was crumpled in numerous directions so, this being a project I decided to try my hand at some body work for the first time in 5 years.
Before:
And after:
Got motivated to redo this thing so 7 hours of work yielded me my result. It looked a little something like this. After removing the drivers side wheel I used numerous prybars, hammers, 1x2, 2x6 and dow rod instruments to get the panel in a somewhat recognizable form. Then this happened.
Sanding down to bare metal
And a little more 80-100 grit
Unfortunately I worked too hard and forgot to pause for pics. I layed first one, sanded, and then two thin layers of filler.
This is the second before I had really sanded it down much. There really wasn't much filler left at all after finalizing the bodywork.
Then I worked so hard until I remembered to keep track. This is after the final touches and the first layer of primer.
Last but not least a semi-finished product after 5 coats of primer.

Oh and I also trim-blacked my grills.
I was quite happy with the result as an amateur and would do it again in a heartbeat! I forgot how much fun bodywork can be.
The car will be getting professionally resprayed fender and hood within the next few weeks hence the heavy primer. I just wanted to get some work done beforehand.
Thanks for looking.
