I re-sprayed my e30 last weekend with some Duplicolor Lacquer (Yes, I know lacquer is outdated and this system does not come in any factory e30 colors) and I am having some issues. The car was sprayed in mineral gray metallic, followed by their metallic clear. However, it turns out that their metallic clear is a mid-coat clear, and is meant to be cleared over. Secondly, after it rained today, their were either brown or white spots left where water had stood. The hood and front fenders were sprayed 2 weeks ago, and have been rained on, but did not have this problem. Today, the same spots appeared exactly where the water was. However, it rained again, and no residue was left. These spots come off if buffed.
Here is what I would like to know: What is a mid-coat clear, and what should I do? It seems to buff like normal clear, so can I just buff like normal? What caused these spots? Sorry that I do not have photos, but it is already dark here.
Thank You
