Best way to cut out late model rear valance

I have a 1987 convertible that I did a plastic bumper swap in. Now I need to cut out a rear valance from a donor late model car and have it welded in. I have a car lined up to do it but need to know the best approach. I have a sawzall drill bits and lots of other tools. Where is the best place to cut and how far back? Thanks for any help I am going later tonight to cut it out. I searched but did not find much btw...

Is there any aftermarket valance that will bolt up to my db rear with the plastic bumper installed?

I am repainting car but want the rear to look right before I do it...

Kinda off topic, but did you have to cut a section of the back plastic bumper in order to make it fit properly? I need to put on the back of mine, but need to figure it out before i do it.

^ The verts don't need to be modified as the rear wheel arches are the same as in a pb car. Jordan, aka Stuck (who is also banned) had a write up on doing this on the 2 and 4 door hardtops.

Also, I am curious about the rear apron on these as well. I am slowly acquiring parts for my pb swap and dont want the odd looking rear end on mine....
