The best choice is to get euro bumpers + valance

The second best choice is to facelift with late model plastic bumpers + valance

The third best choice is to tuck your current diving board bumpers +/- paint the metal since the car's black (best economical choice).

You could also get a late model valance and keep the diving board bumpers.

I don't think the IS lip will straight up bolt-on to the early valance.

I want euro bumpers of course but that's impossible thanks to school etc and I want to keep the diving boards might do a tuck still debating the question is what to do with valence.

Ok so I'll look for an IS valence then add a IS lip is that all a direct fit to db's and I'll be looking good? Thanks a bunch guys I've been starring at my valence for a while now trying to figure out a plan.

There's two styles of iS lips. There's the 87 one, and the 88+.

If it were my car, I would swap an 88+ front valance on to the car (also known as late model valance).

Along with that, install a late model (88+) iS lip on to it.

Here's a picture of an early car like yours with a late model valance and iS lip:

Thank you so much I now know what direction I'm going in. With a late model Is valence I have to cut my tow hooks? Is there anyway around that because with a 27 year old car you never know when you'll need a tow home.

Not sure if you'll have to cut it, although I don't know why you'd need to as I believe they screw on.

As far as a workaround, yes, there is always one of those. Mount a bolt-on towhook and cut a slit for it.

Yes the hooks wil be cut. But theres a tow hook that screws into your front bumber behind the front plate also.

Is that on early model cars?

                        That's only on 88's. :)

There is no way to mount a late model valance without cutting off the hooks. The unibody still has hook points near the front control arm bushings though.

The 88+ is valance is the same as the ix one right?

Well if the iX is an 88 or newer, yes.
