    Late model lower valance problem

So i purchased a late model valance for my early model e30, went to put it on last night and it does not fit. Even if i cut the tow hooks off the top edge is much to tall, only the side bolts line up. Also, there are two arms that protrude from the center section of the valance that hit the front of the car. There is no place for them to pass through. My car is an 84' and ive heard in the past that 84 and 85's have some unique things about them, could this be one? Should i just trim the top of the valance to fit?

    pics would help here.

I installed a late valance on my early (87) cabbie, and had no such difficulties. Pics would assist us in helping you fit the valance to your car.

      Here yah go

Here the bumper is resting on the bumper shocks, this is as far back as it will go, you can see the black pieces sticking out preventing it from being placed further back.

From the front you can see that it (valance) is to tall and that the leading edge will make contact with the bottom edge of the front clip.

For reference here is what it looks like with nothing.

take off the piece below the grilles. Early Early models had a 2 piece valance. The later models have this piece under the grilles as part of the lower valance.

This should allow it to bolt right up. hope this helps
