how do you remove peeling clear coat?

so how do you do it without destroying the paint. afterward, should a good polish make it shine again?

you will have to sand the finish down; with some very fine sand paper and tonne's of elbow grease and hours of labour. so look at using 1200-1500 grade water sand paper.
Then you will need to bring the finish back up and then apply a fresh coat.

much easier to sand it down and start from scratch. new paint job!

at this stage the paint is obviously tired and weathered.. you'd be wasting your efforts.

As stated, that can only be fixed by a respray. Make sure you sand all the clearcoat off before you even think about primer, etc. The DA and 180 grit are your friends ;)

For the record your car has been repainted already.
Or at least the panels that are flaking.

Also don't even think about using 180. 320 is the norm.

180 is fine and gets filled by the etching/filler primer, then you can go 320 or 400 wet/dry.
You can start at 320 if you like doing twice the work for minimal to no gain. Myself, I don't have that time on my hands..

that is a repaint as the original color was enamel red. Unless they polished it and decided they would clear it over. I have a similar problem with the plastic parts on my zinno vert.
