Anyone know how to remove the Lock Cylinder from door?

Just a quick question... I'm prepping my E30 M3 for paint and I'm trying to figure out how to remove this lock cylinder from the door. I've searched and cannot find the answer. Can you guys give me some tips?

    Thanks!

    1. open door
    2. remove interior door panel
    3. peel back moisture barrier
    4. use pliers to remove U shaped retainer from lock cylinder
    5. wiggle lock cylinder out of double lock switch plate and remove from door

installation is reverse of removal, but may take an extra set of hands.

Need some help, Ive been trying to get that u shaped retainer out for half an hour, there doesn't seem to be any good angle and nothing to really grab onto with pliers.
I'm at a point where if I put any more force to it I'm going to puncture a hole through my door!
Any other tricks you all have?

Ok so I figured out that my locks have heaters which are permanently fastened to the retainer clip. I did not realize that was designed that way. Finally got it out.
