Bumper question

I have the aluminum bumpers on my '87 325is and I wanted to do the plastic bumper conversion. After some research it seems like a pain, so I was checking out ebay and i saw this:

It claims that its for E30's from '84 - '91 and its a bolt on bumper. Is this another ebay scam? or can you really just un-bolt your rear bumper and slap this one on?

no, you can;t bolt that hideous ass thing on. Search and you will find loads of info here about swapping plastic bumpers onto your car.

i think you should do it. just take off your old bumper, and then put that on.

And then look at how terrible it looks.

And then you realize that maybe you should have just swapped to plastic bumpers the right way.

End of story.

i've decided to be an ass.
assuming you're yet another teenager who got his hands on an e30, i'm sure you've been responsible, and considered these points:

is your engine in absolute, perfect running condition?
all supplementary systems functioning in perfect order?
what about your drivetrain?
manual transmission?
any significant power/torque upgrades?
do you have lowering suspension?
do you have nice wheels?
upgraded exhaust muffler?
upgraded lighting?
no rust, dents, scratches, or faded/peeling paint on body?
cracked windshields?
can you eat of your valve cover?
is your interior nice and classy?
is your car a daily driver?
will you own this car a long time?
enough funds to go all the way?
enough remaining funds to continue proper maintainence?

this is my checklist. i know, it's your damn car, but please think it all through. you'll be much happier with a car that performs how it should. after all, it's a BMW.

i do agree with the whole making sure the car runs thing, but whats wrong with making your car look good?

i'm just saying that whatever his current situation is, he should first think about what his car truly deserves.

but by all means, do what you want.

the add isnt wrong, its a rieger gts rear item for the E30. Probably a fibreglass copy though so its not exactly going to be bolt on.

Edit: Original is fibreglass too, just depends on how well they copied it. The gts kit is designed to fit over the bumper though i think.

Wow, that this is horrible quality. Look how wavyand warped it is. The right side is even taller then the left side at the top. Not to mention the bottom diffuser.

Yes the ad IS wrong. It can not actually fit 84-91 E30's

Do you not know there is a difference in the design of the rear of 84-87 cars compared to 88-91? Sure it may fit but as said will not fit correctly.
