Please note that the owner chose not to fix the dents and rust
before:

Note the oxidation

After:
Let me just say I can BELIEVE how good this turned out I wasnt really sure it was going to be any good based on the condition of the vehicle and the amount of prep requested; I was also using PPG rather than transtar any way I was pleasantly surprised

bastianshaw,
Sorry if I came across wrong. I just think that promising "better than stock" is going too far.
einstein57,
I never said I wanted all that for $500. I simply said I'd want a better paint job. I'd be more than willing to pay for it, and I know I'd have to pay a lot more. (I'd think $1-2K would be fair if I did all the trim removal and a ton of prep and the car didn't need very much in the way of body work.)
For $500, I think that bastianshaw is offering people a very good deal and he's learning a bunch in the process. Sounds like a win-win to me, as long as people know what they are getting.Leave a comment:

Jesse and I were talking about that. If my flight attendant sister ever gets offer flight attendant ass and puts me down as her travel companion I can fly there for free. Jesse knows how to build a booth in a garage for like 200 so it's not that far off. Will keep you posted. You should look in to renting out a booth for a few weeks in So Cal and doing some $600 paint jobs. That way it can cover your travel expenses and would be cheaper then us driving up there.
You expect all that for $500? Customers like that make me not want to sell e30 parts anymore. You guys would be amazed on how many people expected Bilsteins to come with my $335 coilovers.Leave a comment:

You said it: "The correct way to fix this is after sanding, primer and then Sand again [and again and again]."
I'd want a correct paint job (which means a lot more than re-sanding... it means windows-out, trim-off, etc.) if I'm paying anything for it.
Different expectations for different people. Fair enough.
If it's sounds too good to be true...

Great work man. Guys this is $500
He can only do so much at this cost.
If someone wants a perfect paint job they can pay for it. It most likely won't be $500 more like $3k +
Keep up the good workLeave a comment:

Thanks BernzGo to a dealership anbd look at brand new cars. They have orange peels.
It was already emphasized that he is doing an apprenticeship, so no one should expect it to be completely perfect as that takes more time and will cost more money.
Word to the thread crappers, gtfo.
