    Matte vinyl wrap

My brother was asking me about vinyl wraps the other day, so I figured I would see if fellow R3Vers had any experience with the stuff.

And no Im not talking about doing some gay fast and furious decal, he was thinking of wrapping his e30 in a matte white wrap rather than painting the vehicle- anyone ever heard of/ done something like this?

Seen it done on other cars, looks great but to do a solid color right it will cost as much or more than a real paint job.

if you two are handy, you can do it yourself. worst case scenario, if it doesn't look right, take it off and try again. materials are not expensive.

getting a pro shop to do it will cost big bucks.

If you don't have extensive experience working with vinyl dont try and do a solid color yourself. EVERY imperfection will look 100x worse with vinyl over it. The bodywork has to be perfect, and just laying the vinyl evenly is an art. I looked into wrapping my car in satin black and gave ip after taking to some places that did vinyl wraps. Half of them wouldn't even attempt it. Thar said, when it is done right it looks amazing.

lol funny you mention this.. I was just looking into this. I am a broke college student so I can't afford a respray but I do have some time on my hands occasionally and was considering wrapping my car myself (cause if you pay someone to do it, you might as well just get a respray)

Interested in more opinions.. also anyone know where I can buy some quality 3M wrap?
