    black trunk roundel

does anyone have a link where I can purchase a black trunk roundel for my '89 325I coupe? I found the hood one just fine (82mm) but the trunk one is a little bigger and the chrome bit is larger and the curvature is different.

here's where I ordered the hood one, you'll notice it says the hood and trunk ones are the same...

I've done a lot of dumb stuff to my bmw, but I would not fu*k with the color of their logo.

disregarding almost 80 years of heritage to state 'black ones look infinitely better' befuddles meh
Learn about the history of BMW's famous roundel, where it comes from and what are some of the misconceptions.

it doesnt matter if he wants to turn it black or not, that wasn't his question

in my experience finding trunk roundels for the e30 are a pain in the ass if you don't get OEM.

try bimian (sp?) they have stick on ones that look tits, clear coat em and boom. I have red carbon fiber and love it

You can find these vinyl sticker things that go over the emblem itself.
Vendors where selling them at Bfest.

Bavauto has the vinyl decal insert kits that do every roundel on the car for $15. I bought a black kit for my e36; have to be careful putting them on but they look good. Hard to find on the website for some reason, but the pn# is DS EMB.

bust out with some of these

Ive got to be honest, the worst hood ornament ever is the bmw roundrel, and the pontiac roundrel.

Bust out the transformer hood ornament.

                      haha....

Seriously when I took my plastic oem roundrel off my hood for painting I daydreamed about upgrading it to a KIA symbol one day with its classy chromed plastic..... sigh....

Or that real metal Y symbol on top end yugos. Anything is an upgrade. Schwinn and tonka too

Roundel. It's not a hood ornament, it's an emblem. And it's not called a roundel on a Pontiac ffs.

                          Examples of hood ornaments include:
                          • Archer on Pierce-Arrow cars
                          • Crest and Wreath on Cadillac cars
                          • Leaping jaguar on Jaguar cars
                          • Lion rampant on Peugeot cars
                          • Rocky Mountain big horn ram's head on Dodge cars and trucks
                          • Rocket on Oldsmobile cars
                          • Spirit of Ecstasy on Rolls-Royce Motors cars
                          • Trishields on Buick cars
                          • Three-pointed star surrounded by a circle on most Mercedes-Benz sedans and wagons, (not on sport coupe models, which instead tend have a grille with horizontal bars and a large centre-mounted star)
                          • Chief Pontiac on Pontiac autos

Additionally, many vehicle models such as Buick's Regal, the Chevrolet Impala, or Chrysler's Cordoba had their own unique emblem and accompanying distinctive standup hood ornament.

                              hah...

I dont want to even give it a seperate name from symbols. A roundrel. its round.

pontiacs changed a lot over the years but they had one that was just round in the same spots bmw likes. still a triangle but in a circle

I think its silly to take it seriously. It is definitely among the cheapest things any car maker has ever put on a car its a plastic circle. It is almost making fun of car symbols like mercedes, thats what I always interpretted it as. The symbol means nothing put the money into the car.

the ornament is a silly thing, it used to be way more elaborate. BMW has always been sort of anti ornament its the cheapest thing around.

Ive seen a lot of bmws debadged but Id like to see some rebadges.
The lists of ornaments is interesting. It seems that the size of ornaments comes and goes, and modern cars they are becoming larger again.

Our cars were made in a more toned down ornament period. My 89 truck has no ornaments at all just the manufacturer nissan on the tailgate.

If you like different roundrels go for it. If you like the orignal cheap plastic circle thats cool too its all taste. Im inclined to keep it stock myself but transformers rock.
