Front Bumper Shocks

Getting ready to finish the front of my e30 and front bumper is in great shape minus one side in a bit and the other side out a bit. Can the shocks be pulled out or in to equal length? I really don't feel like spending $120 for each bumper shock.

just buy used bumper shocks. I was able to score one for like $20 shipped. Needed one after towing my car using the tow hook. Pulled the shock completely out.
