Repainted cars are often clear coated, so we have no idea whether or not that thing is still single stage.
That said, I would not expect a permanent solution short of new paint.

Don't listen to this guy. Your car is single stage and by the looks zinnoberrot. There are several types of water marks. They best you can do is keep a good sealant and wax on the car at all times. That's what I have on my Single stage zinnoClear coat is aging an beginning to fail.
I would recommend refinishing the upper panels of the vehicle
Doing just a clear coat will not solve the problem.
Surface needs to be sanded and prepped for paint.
Panels being refinished should be checked for cracking
Primer sealed
Base coat (color)
Clear coat
Color sand and buffLeave a comment:

Paint issue.. repair options?
I bought this 84 325E about a year ago and it's always had this issue with its paint where whenever it gets wet it develops white marks. Although it looks like water residue left over, its actually stains on the paint that can't be buffed out. The paint issue is only on the roof, hood, and trunk but the sides of the car don't have the problem. It has been repainted (poorly) at some point, did they just forget to clear coat these parts? I've heard that wet sanding and then clear coating the problem areas is the best bet but i'm not sure.... thoughts?
