    Shadow lining

Im thinking about doin the whole shadow line thing/blacked out grill.
Wondering how/who you guys got to paint your chrome window trim/grill.
Wondering if its an easy thing or something that needs a bit of attention. ie professionals.
    Thanks

What people do is they scuff it with sand paper then use sem trim paint. Take off the trim dont do it on your car. Or the right way is to buy 318is factory black trim new, or old trim and paint it up again.

i used all that + some fine sandpaper to scuff it up a bit, it still looks nice and shiny, but after i did it i cought the spraypainting bug and ended up painting my whole car. The trim still looks nice though

can you take the trim off of the car and do it? it seems like that would be easier? But i assume there are clips that can be broken, etc?
          Thanks for the input,

take it off, then you don't have to worry about overspray

Did mine today and I wish I had in some ways, gotta clean up around some edges now.

Although since you have a late model if you just put tape around the edges VERY well then you could probably be careful enough to not have much overspray.

agreed. that is the best way to do it.

remove trim, sand it all down, spray SEM self etching primer, spray SEM trim paint. installation is the reverse of removal.

I think im gunna take the trim off and do it. if its not to hard to take the trim off. My car is schwarz to so overspray would not be the worst thing to ever happen. Although i would like it done as clean as possible so i think ill be taking off the trim. I guess the same goes for the grill? Now all i need are my rims to be shined up, a lip, abd fogs.. Lookin into a chip, and lsd.. Cant wait for spring.
Thanks for the info. guys, helped me out a lot. Im not a big fan of painting something like this myself. But im slightly more confident in myself here now.
