Best Paint for Painting on Paint

Engine bay of my 280Z is ready for repaint.

I plan on sanding down the current layer of paint and simply painting right on it, with spray paint.

My question is, what type of paint should I use to paint over already existing paint like that?

Plastidip i think can handle the heat cuz i know some people that did their muffler tips and calipers
