    Painting Euro Bumpers Body Color

    Couple questions

When people paint there euro bumpers body color are they just de-chroming them and then painting them body color with regular paint or do they have them chromed body color?

Would a body shop be able to sandblast my bumpers and then fix the dents in them? How much would that cost? My dad can then paint them for freee.

I just ordered new rear brackets, which I'll have soon.
Hopefully my bumpers and mtech1 kit will be at my dads work next week and he can spend a couple of days on them while he’s on break.

    Thanks
    Jon

You can't "chrome" something body-color. "Chroming" is the process of applying a thing plate of the metal 'chromium' to another metal.

There is such thing as Black chrome

I called a couple of shops today. One suggeted this other place that acid dips bumpers for them. They are closed till monday-tuesday so I will call them then. Should only cost $50ish at most then I can get them primed and painted for free.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't seen Euro bumpers in person, but the aluminum bumpers aren't actually chrome plated. They are just aluminum that has been polished slightly and then anodized clear to keep it that way. Like chrome window trim. It's not actually chrome.

IMO, the best way to make the bumpers body color is get them powder coated. You should be able to get it done for a couple $100 and they will last and look good forever.

Accually the Euro bumpers are chrome.

I see... Powdercoating would still work none the less.

Yup, I'm planning to get mine done very soon. Satin black, it's going to look badass.

Erik, I think he was talking about diving boards. He was saying that he knew the euro bumpers are, but the diving boards aren't. They in fact aren't chrome, but you're right about the euros.

To bad my dad was moved from the powder coating department to regular liquid paint about 5 years ago :-(

I'd rather get it done for free. He as a bunch of experimental products to put of the bumpers and the MTech equipment.

I just need to get the bumpers dechromed as the divice they use at my dads work is just a small box and the bigger peices wouldn't fit in there.
