    Water spots on hood?

About two months ago, due to the threat of another incredibly cold winter, we decided to have our outside water spouts winterized.

With the temperature staying under 32° for awhile now, and the previously mentioned pipes being winterized, the E30 hasn't been washed in almost two months.

In that time, very faint, white spots, somewhat near the windshield washer nozzle, have appeared, and don't seem to want to come off. I attempted a few methods of removing acid rain spots, including WD40, vinegar, and a few other things, but to no avail.

I'm assuming they're from windshield washer fluid being left on the hood for too long, but I'm not 100% sure.

I can't currently take a picture at the moment, but I was wondering if, just by description, anyone had ideas of what the problem could be, and what the best remedy would be.
