    patching a hole

took out the trunk liner to instal shock mounts and found a hole the size of a silver dollar in the jack well. bought the por15 kit and a piece of the fiberglass like fabric from advanced rust proctection co. question is, can i lay the material down and just por15 over it? it came with no instructions. i do have the marine clean and pre prep along with the por15.

Fiberglass is not the correct way to fix it. Cutting out any bad metal and welding in new is the only correct way.

Fiberglass will cover the hole, but it will allow moisture to trap underneath it, causing more rust and even more of a mess.

If you don't have access to a welder, you would be better off cutting the bad metal out, then cutting a metal patch panel slightly bigger than the opening and using body adhesive to glue it in place. Lord Fusor is one brand of body glue. Then just undercoat the bottom and paint the inside.
