    Shadowline Sucka!

As the introductory title so succinctly states I have recently completed a DIY shadowline on my vehicle. I heard that trim paint eventually wears off or chips because of the metal so i used a self-etching primer first then used duplicolor trim paint over that. I removed all the trim from the car except for the rear-most pieces because the clips are so easy to break and i just taped off that part.

here is a few photos i took of the work.

now only time can tell whether the etching primer did the trick.

Depends on how well you sanded. If you did not cut most of the plastic coating off the aluminum the paint will not stay on well. I sanded all the plastic coating off and mine has been painted for two years with only two small rock chips. You can feel the rock chips so I don't think anything would stop them.
