I'll talk to him about it. We're using mine as a mold...so we would need to make another slightly bigger to stay in place

What would the cost be for just a straight sunroof plug. I stripped the sunroof cassette so opening it isn't an option.

This CF panel will be functional so you can still open it. Cost will be WAY less the the VAC one. I think that one retails at $600. Expect $400 or less.

Cody is wanting to do the trunk too...if all goes well with his diffuser, he'll be making things left and right!

Pics from tonight's progress, laid down 3 layers of fiberglass and resin on the steel plug for the mold. CF material should be in Friday then we'll start on his and start working on the sunroof over the weekend. We figured out our plan on the seal too since people were saying you had to account for seal size. We're going mold it without the seal and make a new seal at the shop since a brand new one runs $85! Once we get the seal made and test it on my car, we'll sell it WITH a new seal.

Steel plug after a lot of sanding, primer and a layer of releasing wax

Plug again, this time with the releasing spray on it

Cody and I (I'm in the red shirt) applying the 1st layer of fiberglass sheeting and resin

Small patches of fiberglass for the corners, vertical flat areas and any places we may have missed

    After about 2 laters

3 layers so far, forgot to take a finished shot when we were done...it was getting late.

    More updates to come!

VAC also makes a functional CF sunroof

I would be interested in a functional (locking) and decent fitting trunk lid.

CF material is being ordered now...should have his diffuser done soon!

We're putting the E30 diffuser on hold till we get a little more want for one.

BUT, we are making a mold using my OE sunroof panel. I'll update as we go

Ah ok, I'll have to look into the sunroof thing then.

Not a bad idea on the M3 underside...we'll see if we can factor that into the diffuser

Yea, if the splitter goes back that far...it may not work with a skid plate.

He's aiming to have his diffuser done in the next couple of weeks...once its done and on his car, I'll post up some pics so you guys can see his quality of work and fitment.

I'd be seriously interested in the rear diffuser but I doubt it would fit correct on an early model with no rear apron.

Also front splitter might be nice going to y the pan but I also run a skid plate... Not sure how that would work

you may want to model the M3's underside. on the stock M3 they filled all around the spare tire with plastic.

What oliver is saying is there is a rubber seal that mounts around the stock insert, to eliminate that you'd have to make the CF one slightly larger.

Not too sure on pricing yet for that one...but he said definitely a lot less then the VAC one.

oliver...if he made one, it would be a direct fit for the stock one.

We considered a splitter...depends on how people would want it to look. He was thinking of making one for the iS lip (since I have one he can use to mock up with) but it would go back further then most, probably as far back as the back of the oil pan.
