It was great result. I had a badly oxidized hood and trunk on 88 325is. After 3 go arounds and then polish looks great.

best way to get rid of oxidation

Just wash the car, use the buff magic as directed (bought through Amazon) use hand, angle grinder with pad, or dual action; then put on your polish of choice. No big secret, the buff magic just gets rid of the oxidation. After the buff magic just detail as normal. You can also clay the car to get rid of the oxidation.

I would definitely try this first. You will be surprised on how well a good buffing compound and/or clay will get rid of the oxidation.

Clay does not work very well for oxidation, at least not in my experience..seems like you would have to clay for weeks to get rid of it via clay bar

A D/A polisher and some Meguiar's 101 and 201 will bring it back if it isn't too bad. I just recently picked up a Harbor Freight model and am happy with it so far. Read a lot of reviews about it on auto detailing sites and it has good reviews. With a 20% off coupon, it's only $48.

Buy decent foam pads though, the Harbor Freight ones suck and shred.

Get a power buffer. Get Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound to get that heavy white oxidation off, Get Klasse AIO Polish to get the color and shine back then seal it with Klasse Paint Sealant.

Liquid rubbing compound and a old wash cloth folded in quarters to apply it. The wash cloth is much tougher to cut the oxidation down vs. a soft applicator pad. You'll be stripping a very very thin layer of paint which is the oxidation. You're going to use a lot of elbow grease but it's worth it. Then finish off with Meguiars Color X. I swear by it. Did it to three E30's and was extremely happy. $20 price tag.
