I just got a quote earlier this year for a complete respray of my 1991 318iS in a color of my choosing at a paintshop that does quality work, and was at $6300.00 before any parts came into the math.

That sounds pretty accurate, a friend just had his integra painted and it was 7k. Maybe 4k is a bit low now that i think about it.

If you can get an OE quality paint job for 2 grand, you're dumb for not taking advantage of really good. Any good body shop with charge you around 4 grand for an OE quality paint job. There so much prep work and disassembling in order for a solid paint and that's where the majority coin goes to. My brother in-law just gave me my price quote for all the paint and product I need to paint my car and it's just over a grand.
