I got myself an e30 recently, then it rained..

Water poured in the boot, under the rear seat and pooled in the rear footwell area where I found holes drilled through the floor because there was no gasket on the tail light.

Also the hood lining was wet, so I pulled it back and found this. The tube on the right of the photo is the rear sunroof drain..

I've seen so much rust since joining this forum, I don't even like to drive in the wet fog anymore! - only partially kidding. sorry to see that happened

I don't know what to do, I can't help thinking it's too far gone. I know the entire sunroof tray can be removed but it looks like it's eating into the underside of the roof skin. Any repair is going to be significant and I can't even weld. Then there is the question of where the water has been going and what other damage has been done.

It sucks when you discover things like this ,can decide the fait of a car quickly ...do some digging and find out how extensive the rust really is ..could be repaired still .....I just repaired two holes in my floor; each big enough to put your foot through .good thing I decided to pull the carpet to see what shape the metal was in !!

Damn bro, that really sucks. Guess it's time to start learning how to weld ;)

It's really not too bad once you get the hang of it. Watch some videos, buy a decent machine (Hobart is good and can be had for under $400... not sure what shipping would be like to Kiwiland tho) and grab as much scrap metal that you can find to practice on. Figure about a week of practice before you can start doing stuff.
