    Ordering shadowline

Do any of you know the part numbers to order the dark shadowline for the 318is? I wanna paint it and put it on my 325i. Also anyone know how much it would cost for both sides for all pieces?

Shadowline is no longer avalible from bmw, meaning you can not order it anymore. The crome trim is still avalible.

You can paint your standard trim black but it will only stick if you prep it properly.

I think there was a thread a while back so you might want to try the search function.

        Shadowline sucks.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

I did a few searches, couldn't find anything, what are the right part numbers for the complete set on both sides and how much does it cost? That's for the chrome time, I guess.

RealOEM.com says I can order shadowline for my 318is.

Not quite sure that that link will work, but just plug in a '91 318is, and goto Vehicle Trim > Exterior Trim.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Stupid question but the shadowline products are the ones that say Schwarz after the description right?

#1 and 10 would be the black peices I would have to get?

I have checked all the websites I know of, and I just plugged the part #'s into yahoo and nothing. Is there anywhere to get this stuff?

The parts department at the dealer I work at.

We have a function on center net (thats the BMW website that is only avalible to dealers) that lets you know how many of each part are in the distribution hubs in the US and how many in germany total (no data on the individual hubs in germany) and there are none in the US or germany and the part is no longer avalible.

That means BMW has none and dont plan on making any. Your only chance of finding new shadowline is if someone stock piled a bunch.

Some guys have tried to order it including Mtriple and Blunt.

So I am pretty confident it is not bad info.

Your best bet is painting your crome stuff or getting used shadowline.

Lots of people say the paint chips off when you paint the chrome stuff,
this is cause by poor paint prep.

To make the paint stick and last you need to sand down you crome stuff so the paint has somthing to stick to. Then use a good primer, then the black paint.

I am not shure what kind, brand or how many coats Blunt used but his turned out nice and has held up for 3 years.

I guess I will have a diffent parts guy look it up, and I guess I can return that black trim paint.

                            Thanks for the good info.

No problem, the stuff is expensive though, not worth it imo, my DIY shadowline has lasted a year without chipping yet, just use the right stuff and you'll be fine, save yourself a grip of cash.
