What needs to be covered when power washing engine bay?

My engine bay is pretty filthy and I don't want to get into all/every crevice to get it clean... I can't find someone locally who can clean it (not really looking that hard lol).

I've seen people spray degreaser, and then power wash (or regular wash) their bay, but that's on newer cars where all electricals are covered by plastics etc.

What needs to be covered in order for me to not fuck everything up...

I drive a early model, m20 if that matters.

I know so far, 1. alternator, 2. open air intake

    anything else?

What do you guys normally do to do this?
