Fenders Early vs. Late W/ Photos

The photos below show the only difference between early and late model fenders. The notch to clear the bulge where kick panel speakers locate is deeper on late model fenders. There is also more material to the body side of the fender at the mounting points on the early fender.
1985 325e with carpeted kick panels / Right fender

1990 325i with plastic kick panels / Right Fender

This must be why my eBay sourced right fits badly. Must be for a early model
