    Paint Advice

My new '87 325is has some paint chips, in some case bare metal, as can be seen by the pictures. Another couple of spots have clearly been poorly touched up in the past and the color doesn't match perfectly and is cracking.
    Color is zinnoberrot.
I'm new to auto body paint work, so I'm thinking of what would be the best solution for this. I feel like spray paint would be the best option (paintscratch.com has the color), but would I need to do the entire hood then? I wouldn't want to do that because I feel like that won't look very good.
    Advice? Thanks

    Bare metal one (worst one):

Touched up in the past (camera flash makes the color blend better - the chipping part is actually a darker shade of red):

proper way if the car in excellent shape would be to paint the hood, blend fenders, and clear all three. 1 pint of paint may do it. a quart definelty will do it. I think you will have to buy a gallon of clear though.

easier way is to paint and clear the hood. I don't think spray paint will turn out very well. 1 pint of red in a good paint about $75. 1 gallon kit of ok clear $100, better clear $140

I'd order a paint pen and just paint over the chip. Yes, it's not going to look perfect, but at least the bare metal is protected. Put some primer over first. Otherwise do it right and bring it to a shop.

Ideally I'd like to do all 3 like meanEG said. But I still have a bunch of other work to do and that's not really in the cards right now. Sounds like the paint pen is my best option at this point. Any advice with paint pens? I'm looking at this: http://www.paintscratch.com/neworder...Paint-Pen-Kit/
