    Clear Protective Paint Coverings, Options

    What are my options?

The paintwork is getting finished and I want to have as much protection as possible form rock chips and the like, but I don't want to paint to fade at different rates. What are the good options to keep it looking like new for as long as possible?

Only advice i have to add is if you're getting fresh paint on the car.... wait about 3-4 weeks before applying something like this. This is what I've been told by several body shops and collision centers I've worked with in the past.

The shop I'm working with advised against this (I also wanted to do this). The owner said that despite whatever method you try to remove it, you'll permanently screw up the paint underneath. He said that if he does a "rough sanding" before/after the paint, that it'll help the clear adhere better. Then you bake it for something like 16 hours...He said he'll do the entire front end on my e30 while it's in the shop.

Something along those lines, I can't quite remember. But he really was against the clear stuff.

I tried this once on one of the race cars. It finished not only opaque but with texture and did NOT come off easily. I must have done something wrong, but it was not a good scenario.

I'm now a distributor for Ceramic Pro. I can get you a deal with one of my certified installers in the Bay Area who also does Clearbra for the front end. Post some pics of the finished paint! I would love to see how my old car is coming along.

Just get 3m clear protection film or xpell. Easly to apply, just like vinly wrap. It will give you the best protection without damaging the paint. You may also try ceramic coating but thats expensive.
