my hood is too close to the fender at the passenger windshield, the paint is a getting abraded away. I've tried loosening the screws at the hinge and wiggling it but I can't get it to move away from the fender without producing a huge gap at the drivers fender in the front. Are there any other adjustment points? I noticed that the latching points near the windshield can be adjusted up and down, but I can't see how to adjust them left to right.

Hood alignment problem

I'd say the best thing to try is to pop the hood, leaving it down, and undo the bolts in the front. How does it align in the front? is it uneven? have you adjusted the rear of the hood, at the little roller guide thingies? they move left and right.
maybe a pic would help, because I don't see how this could be happening.

I'll take a pic this weekend. Where are the side-to-side adjusters you mention at the read of the hood, at the roller guides? I didn't see any. That sounds exactly what I need.
Yes, I had the hood open but down and then unscrewed.'89 lachssilber vert - Frau Blücher

so the brackets on the hood with the little plastic wheel.... I'm pretty sure that if you loosen the bolts on them, but not too much, just enoigh to move them (youll have to do both sides probably) you can slide them front, back, left, and right. At the same time you probably want to loosen the bolts that hole the hood at the front, and with the hood popped but still down, adjust. when you have it where you need it, tighten the bolts on the front of the hood, open the hood and tighten the rear roller adjusters in their new position.
is it possible that your fender is misaligned or that the hood is wonky?

Hm, I did loosen those but they seemed to only adjust up and down, I'll check again.
Sure, it's possible, but the car hasn't been involved in an accident in the front in the last 11 years at least, so I wasn't suspecting that. Visually the fenders seem to align ok to the doors and front bumper / grille area.'89 lachssilber vert - Frau Blücher
